Stukenborg: “It’s the maximum sentence that they could have handed down, so in that case it makes us feel good. But, it is what it is, it really doesn’t have much of an impact on Dave getting better, and that’s really our focus. Our hope is that no one else does it again. I know that’s what the judge tried to convey as he handed down the sentence. When you do something like that, you’re putting not only the police officers in jeopardy but the general public when you have cars driving that fast to try and react. If they can maintain pretty much a minimum of about a 2.5 grade point average, there might be something out there for them. Our scholarships are from everywhere from the average student to the straight A student, students who are interested in healthcare, business, who live in certain parts of the community who are maybe a non-traditional student like a mother who has stayed home to raise her kids but now wants to go back to school. The only way we’re going to grow revenues to the state is through economic development. More jobs. We lost over 700,000 jobs in Illinois in the last ten years because the Chicago politicians have increased the cost of doing business and businesses have made a decision. They are going to go where they can be competitive, where they can profit. Unfortunately the Chicago politicians have been sending the message that we don’t care. I’m going to cut back those costs.”
